Geohazard assessment

Geohazards such as from flooding, slope failures or erosion can impact existing or planned developments. Assessment involves evaluating the landscape to identify hazards, information which can then be used to plan around the hazards. Geohazard assessments are used in many applications, such as for residential development, oil and gas pipelines, water pipelines, municipal underground utilities, power transmission line routing, and road design and maintenance. Geohazard assessments can use tools such as drone surveys, LiDAR data, air photos, satellite imagery, hydrological and climate data analysis, borehole drilling, and surficial geology mapping.
